Synopsis

This experimental film adored by Stanley Kubrick, Stan Brakhage and George Lucas, presents a bleak view of an overtechnicized society of separate, alienated people. The director looks at his contemporaries with a certain disdain; he perceives the everydayness, seen as common joys by other authors, as pulsating vanity. Many anonymous human faces (the number in the title replaces the name of a man) point at the degeneration of faith, consumerism, a future Apocalypse, but also Lipsett's antagonistic fascination with science and spiritual learning.
