Synopsis

Marker accepted an offer from CFDT, the French trade union central, to celebrate a hundredth anniversary of the unions under an explicit condition that he could put the whole thing in the time a two hundredth anniversary. Thus by adding a century, in order to be able to talk about the present (1984), he will move to the future (2084), making the present appear as the future. The present is thus seen as the future that has already happened. It can be only approached in memories. The entire film takes places in the image archive laboratory and the collected (developed and selected) images are projected onto faces and bodies.
