The ethos of the Medvedkin Group was made of a strong belief that thanks to the collective making of a film the people who make films can understand why it is important to work together with people who don't make them, and because it is easy to make a film, the people who don't make films will understand that problems of a film are actually simple. This however required a change of the cultural orientation of a French workman, that's why Marker spoke about cultural decay. The strike at the textile factory Rhodiaceta was also to have libraries in factories. But it was mainly film that was supposed to help the workman's soul.
