Synopsis

In March 1967, Le Nouvel Observateur weekly published a Marker's text, where, among others, he wrote: "First of all I would like to describe the workmen's fate. It actually is a negation of all today's myths about the consumer society, abundance and blurring out of class differences. Now it is not about starving, but about stress, it does not show the physiological decay but a cultural one." It was a first step towards founding the Medvedkin Group that wanted to establish perfect equality between the filmmakers and those filmed, and the first sign of a future film about the textile workers strike in eastern France.
