Synopsis

The picture, which is now considered the first film about African people filmed by African people, builds upon the principle of reversed ethnology: it is the black Africans that are discovering the capital of the colonial power, so the film, originally meant to be an essay of images about the African future in France, becomes, partly thanks to the commentary read by the authors, an ironical meditation over their own cultural identity among the French natives.
