The Freestone Drone

The Freestone Drone

Dron Freestone

Color: Colour
Language: English

The mission of a drone as seen from the viewpoint of a conscious machine. This hybrid political essay combines a carefully constructed argumentative structure with found footage, the imitation or re-mediation of television footage, and elements of science fiction in order to reflect on the use of drones as a weapon.

In the 1980s British video artist George Barber (1958) achieved fame with his scratch videos. Made using found footage techniques, dynamic editing and the layering of rhythm, they were a critique of the television mass medium.
