A thousand and one Syrians bear witness to the destruction of their country and the suffering of their people. This compilation of low-resolution clips taken painfully close to the torture and chaos of street fighting is accompanied by video correspondence by the co-director, separated during the filming by the 1000 kilometers between Paris and Homs, between asylum and the front line of the civil war.

Syrian director and screenwriter Ossama Mohammed has lived in France since 2011. Wiam Simav Bedrixan is a Syrian Kurd, formerly a teacher at a primary school in Homs. Silvered Water, Syria Self-Portrait had its premiere at the Cannes Festival in 2014.
