At the end of the 1960s the post-war generation started to revolt. This included journalist Ulrike Meinhof, lawyer Horst Mahler, filmmaker Holger Meins, and the students Gudrun Ensslin and Andreas Baader, who co-founded the Red Army Faction (RAF). Constructed entirely from archives, the film describes their increasing political involvement to the time of their armed resistance and the reactions of the German government.

Jean-Gabriel Périot (1974) started as a film editor. Most of his films involve working with archives and have won many awards worldwide. Since 2013, he has made films directly with prison inmates, such as The Day Has Conquered the Night.
