Synopsis

The document of an Australian director with Czech roots is a history of a family stretched out over two distant continents and three generations. She compares live of her entrepreneurial cousins, fully using the possibilities, which is offered to them by the market game in the Czech Republic, with the destiny of her father, who emigrated to Australia in the 1940's.

Counterpoint of historical turns allows her to investigate the family gene, the will for the economic welfare, the visible success, the gene, showing out differently in different regimes, but always bringing courage to be in business. The 8mm pictures from a family archive play an important role, these were sent by her father to the socialist Czechoslovakia - the author, after years, questions the truth of these pictures from a family life, whether they did not only show the bright sides of an Australian life.

The picture connects to the autobiographical portrait of the director's mother (Maria, 1992), its title is a wordplay used in the family.
