Synopsis
Resnais’s tendencies towards surrealism influenced his decision to capture painter Félix Labisse during his creative process. The camera’s concentrated focus on details achieves an interesting, thrilling rhythm. And then the blissfully staring eyes of a woman nibbling on a breast or a woman with a knife in her genitals! An important role is played by the fragmentary aesthetic of comics.

DETAIL:
“I’m capable of adapting to the style of a performance that I’m watching, the style of a book that I’m reading. I’m a bit like a chameleon in that respect.” Alain Resnais
