Lucia Nimcová

Slovak photographer Nimcová is a graduate of the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava and has also studied in the Netherlands, where she lives and works today. Though her works tends towards documentary photography, she alters her photographs by, among other things, writing or drawing on them, hand coloring them, adding a blue tone, and adding excerpts of texts. She has received numerous awards for her photographic series, and has exhibited in Amsterdam, Budapest, Vienna, and Rome. Awards include the Leica Oskar Barnack Award and the ECB Photography Prize for the series Unofficial about life in post-1989 Slovakia. Other series include Slovakia 003, Women, and Instant Women.
