Exhibition of photographs by Jiří Polák

For Jiří Polák, the island of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf was a fateful place where he found himself and later “lost” himself again as he left. His cinematic and especially his photographic work is firmly tied to the island, whose fascinating geological formations he captures on photographs and slides.
After having seen thousands and tens of thousands of tourist and travel photographs, Polák’s subjects may strike us as more of the same, but his works possess something deeper.
From 23 to 28 October at the Galerie ZUŠ Jihlava, Masarykovo nám. 16, open 10am to 6pm.
