Michal Ajvaz and Ivan Havel: Dream-Weaving, Sinbad’s House

Michal Ajvaz and Ivan Havel will read from their two joint books, Dream-Weaving and Sinbad’s House.

The first presents letters in which the two authors spent a year telling each other their dreams, thought about them, and explored whether they might find some laws to dreaming – without, however, basing their ideas on psychoanalysis or any other theories of dreaming.

The second book of correspondence is called Sinbad’s House. It contains letters in which the authors explore episodic situations – unique elements of the human experience of the world that combine to form our everyday life but that have rarely been analysed. The authors base their research on numerous examples of such situations from their own lives and from literary fiction.
