How to approach writing of longer specialized and scholarly texts on documentary film in a creative way? How to combine research and choice of methodological tools with a creative structuring and writing of the very text? The lecture will analyse several types of longer texts; specialized and scholarly studies the aim of which is to approach documentary film, analyse it, interpret it, set it within a historical context and apply or try out selected film theories.
Mária Ferenčuhová
Poet, translator, film theorist. Since 2003 lecturer and researcher of film history and theory at the Film and TV Faculty of Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Slovakia. From 2004 to 2007 vice-rector for international cooperation, research and public relations; from 2010 to 2012 Vice Dean for foreign affairs. Translates from French (Paul Virilio, Jean Echenoz, Amélie Nothomb, Philippe Sollers, Samuel Beckett, etc.). Author of a scholarly monograph on documentary film Odložený čas (Bratislava 2009) and three books of poetry.
